Family Pizza Crust Gone GF Pizza Crust
GF Pizza Crust
When my son first had to go GF we knew we would have to find a pizza dough that would suffice. We also went egg free at that time. Today is a bit of a differnent story. He is Wheat free with an EpiPen and Eggs are one of his favorite foods. That is a different story…watch for “Chips N Cheese” he went from 7 to 37 known allergies. Pizza is still his favorite and we have changed the recipe 3 times.
The Basic
1.5 Tablespoons of Yeast
1.5 Cups of warm water
2 Tablespoons of oil
4 cups flour
1 teaspoon of salt
Gluten Free Pizza Dough
1.5 Tablespoons of Yeast
2.0 Cups of warm water
2 Tablespoons of oil
2 scoops (approx. 7 Tablespoons of ground flax seed)
3.5 Cups of GF flour
1 Table spoon sugar (optional)
1 teaspoon salt
Place yeast in mixing bowl add warm water. Add oil, sugar, and flax let stand a few minutes. Mix in flour and salt. For original recipe you can kneed the dough (I have not done this in 5 years so google it). For Gluten Free I have been mixing it thoroughly letting it sit for 5-10 min and mixing it again then let it rise for 30-60 min. I prebake the GF for 8-10 min at 425°F till it lightly crusts then pull out and top with sauce and desired toppings and bake for an additional 8-10 mins depending on your tastes.
