Teal Pumpkin
So the teal pumpkin started out a little different at our house. It started with the RED 40 exchange. When our oldest son was 4 we realized red 40 was not for him and since it is always popping up we created a family rule. You MUST not eat that red 40 candy but you can bring it home and exchange it for a reasonable replacement. A few years later we made the choice to loose all food dyes. My kids never argued they just traded up. The best memory was the local bakery’s lemon cookies for all their valentine’s candies…best deal ever!!! Then those same lemon cookies brought us to the allergy journey number one. Where the entire house was found to be gluten intolerant amongst some other foods. We did a major overhaul of our diet and it left us with limited ability to attend those food focused functions. Exactly 4 years later we had allergy overhaul number two. This time we did not get away with the “non-life threatening” or without “EpiPen” we went full on to an Allergy EpiPen carrying family; where the only “safe” food to order was Nachos at the local Mexican restaurant and a DQ dish of ice cream. We have been on this journey now for 8 months and grown accustom to keeping brother safe. We are so happy that the Teal Pumpkin Project has become more known as there are no safe candies for brother at your local store. Thankful for Enjoy Life and other companies that do their best to make products we can enjoy. Wishing you all a safe and fun Halloween!
